"Most of us are dragged headlong into the cultural currents of conformity. Like it or not. We do what’s necessary to swim in the direction of acceptance and approval." -- No kidding.... and a favorite one of mine is "you don't have to be anything... you can just be!!!"--- The end. Dr. Phil

Forget to be or not to be. Being is tricky...static, still, inanimate.

Try: To quest or not to quest. THAT is the question.

Swimming upstream in a downstream world isn't easy. But every once in a while (speaking of fitting in and finding acceptance) you run into a fellow swimmer, you join hands, and you've got a "community of approval" who have broken out of prison!!!! Thanks for breaking out with me, Richard Dubin. Haha.

With a little love

And some tenderness

We'll walk upon the water

We'll rise above the mess. . .

I got a hand for you

I want to run with you. . .

Wonderful to swim free with you, dear Connie.

Having Hootie and the Blowfish (who obviously know the sea) along is a boon. Glad you’ve invited them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoW3bqnr7tw

El Mago!! I've heard about you. Great post, sir!!!

Dubin!!! This might be your best post EVER, and that's saying something! May be the best thing you've ever written—aside from Al Floss!!—and WOW, does it resonate!

Acceptance and Approval, two words with which I'm very familiar. We been dancing together for more than a minute, but over time less and less, to my great delight!

Thanks for your writing, thanks for your wisdom, thanks for your commitment to sharing what you've learned and UN-learned. We are all so much the better for it! Lights Up, indeed!!

I've always found that intuition and following it... Can open up worlds we never knew existed... How sometimes a "chance" meeting with someone can drastically change the course of our lives.. Or even just alter it somewhat... Why is it the words in this latest Acting Human resonate so clearly .. As if I'm being dropped inside a crystal sound bowl.. Resonating at a high pitched level of recognition of so many familiar choices that I understand and have been part of who I am and how I behaved at an early age..and most of my life... Then sometimes abandoned that journey, with surrendered exhaustion and added a dash of conformity.. At a young age, to please others, only to realize later.. That's not who I truly am.. In this journey and adventure called life..

Imagination, Conformity, Poetry, one of these 3 words doesn't belong.. It's the "C" word... Conformity. Follow your intuition.. Be that different individual... I did, when striking up that first conversation with a bearded man, with thick black framed glasses, on a deck overlooking the ocean and palm trees, in Cabarete, Dominican Republic... A conversation that led to others and began a constantly evolving friendship.. Between a Magician and a cool cat, El Mago and Gatto Suave, because sometimes our intuition truly knows.. For had I not met you there and then, I would not be reading this beautiful manuscript, Here and Now, called "Acting Human"... Which has helped me immensely on a personal level these past few months, where change in my life has been a difficult transition, and Acting Human has given me familiar wisdom which sometimes I forget while working on this puzzle called My Life, and it's direction, or lack of.. Which the poet in me understands .. I clicked on the link about the Nobel Prize winning author, Wislaw Szymborska on "The Poet and the World.".. And after reading it... I smiled radiantly .. Because so much of it was true and I could relate to ..and it reminded me of who I truly am.. Thank you once more Richard, for sharing Acting Human with us... I am forever grateful for this gift you have offered us .. With A Smile, H. R. S.
